Figure – Atmosphere – Light in the Room

A genre picture, such as works by Jan Vermeer (1632-1675), displays a very special atmosphere and intimacy. How do I get light into the picture, as well as calm, depth, and intensity? Through the preparatory coating process, a special approach to painting can be achieved. In the systematic construction of an image, painting traditions are linked with controlled rhythm and expression. The glazing technique results in a picturesque quality which provides new impulses for your own image-finding process.
